ULBohs U18’S v Ennis
Result: 38 – 30
U18,On Sunday, 3rd November, the U18’s played their third league match in Annacotty against Ennis RFC.
This game was seen a key opportunity to reap the benefits of the extra coaching and training that the team had undertaken in the last few weeks. The Ennis team started well winning good ruck ball and brought the first score from the Ennis number 8 after some very strong running at the Bohs defence.
This score seemed to kick start the Bohs forwards with some very good rucking and rolling down the pitch to secure the first try for Matt O’Connor, converted by Davy Gleeson. This was quickly followed by a 2nd try from Matt again and converted by Davy Gleeson, leaving the score at 17-5 to Bohs.
Ennis came more into the game and ran in two more tries to close the deficit to 17-15 when Bohs powered over the line for 3rd try by Alfie Sudds after some excellent forward rucking by David Kennedy, John Quinlivan and Brendan Tormey, leaving the score at 24-15 at halftime.
Ennis stared the 2nd half strongly and ran in three more tries lead by 24-30 when Barry Hurley succeeded in crossing the line for Bohs fourth try which was converted by Davy Gleeson to lead by 1 point at 31 -30. This set up the final ten minutes as a tense affair with both sets of forwards giving it all to try and secure the win. Ennis camped on the Bohs line for 5 minutes but stern defence by Vinny Lyons, Sean Shinnors and Eoin Fahy ensured that Ennis were kept at bay. A breakaway move by Tom Ryan to the half way line was finished off by Davy Gleeson who evaded several tacklers to score under the posts. Sean Shinnors succeed with the conversion to the sound of the final whistle and Bohs winning by 38-30. This was a great team performance by all players and subs on the day and well done to all involved.
Our next game is away to Newcastle West on Sunday, 10th November.
